Learn the basics of screen printing on paper using a 2 layered process. In this class you will learn how to coat screens with emulsion, then transfer your image onto a screen using a light exposure unit. This will be followed by thee citing process of printing both the exposed image and a background colour onto paper. Participants will take home a A4 screen print ready for framing. This class is suited to beginners.
Materials provided: Access to screen printing equipment for the day, screen, ink, 1 transparency and some printing paper.

This course aims to extend knowledge and further hone skills in collagraphy, and is suitable for those with some knowledge and experience in creating and printing collagraphs.
What students need to bring:
Images & ideas to work with, or work on ideas during session times. Any plates you may wish to print or re-use.Your own printmaking paper suitable for intaglio, or purchase from the tutor or workshop. Disposable gloves for printing sessions. Paint shirt or apron. Wear closed-in shoes for safety. Refreshments and snacks.
Materials: All other materials are included to create and print your collagraph plates.

This workshop will cover botanical illustration techniques on day 1 lead by Tallulah and then on day two you will turn your image into a etching print lead by Amanda.
DAY 1 will focus on observing & sketching plants from live specimens and photograph.
DAY 2 will focus on preparing & printing your zinc plate etching.

Join textile designer Gemma Threadgate in this one-day workshop where you'll explore the fundamentals of screen printing on fabric. Under Gemma's guidance, you'll bring your one or two-colour placement design to life on your choice of a tote bag, t-shirt, tea towel, or fabric piece.
Submit your one or two-colour placement design to Gemma a week before the workshop.
Learn the art of exposing images onto screens using emulsion and UV light. Learn how to use a squeegee, screen and carousel for printing on textiles, screen cleaning, screen design removal, and setting designs on fabric. and more.

Ticket Policy: In the event of the workshop being cancelled, your booking will be refunded in full. In the case of you not being able to attend a workshop you will be refunded as follows:
Cancellations less than 24 hours before and no-shows on the day will not be refunded and a credit or transfer will not be issued.
Cancellations within 1 week will receive a 35% refund.
Cancellations between 1 and 2 weeks of the workshop will receive a 50% refund.
Cancellations more than two weeks before the workshop receive a full refund less any third party booking fee.

If Newcastle Printmakers, or the student, has to cancel due to Covid lock downs enforced after booking, a refund will be issued. This may be for a whole course, if there is more than one class in the course, dependant upon whether the course has started. For example if we go into lock down part way through a 5 week workshop a pro rata refund will be issued. Alternatively the student may choose to retain a credit for a future course with Newcastle Printmakers.
